four down here, six up there..

In String Theory you will find claims that the world consists of anywhere between 10, 11, 16, 26, or more dimensions, as opposed to the usual 3 spatial dimensions + 1 time dimension that we experience daily. [For recent discoveries about how our brain perceives the passage of that 1 time dimension see this post here.]

This article on Science Blog discusses one of the attempts to begin to provide String Theory with some confirmable predictions. Specifically they are working with a model that takes 10 dimensions into consideration and tries to determine the shape of the six hidden dimensions.

This resonated suddenly with a Torah that I read in the Notzer Hesed. (i'm 90% sure that that's where I read it) He says that the four lower sefiroth (Netzah, Hod, Yesod, Malchuth) come down into this world, but the six upper ones are not revealed down here. More wild is that it suddenly clicked with something I'd once asked my Rav, in answer he told me that time only exists in the sefirah of Malchuth.

Which means that on some basic level, the three spatial dimensions represent Netzah, Hod, Yesod, and the time dimension represents Malchuth.

I can't believe I never noticed something as simple as that before. Pretty cool. Just remember that when it comes to mixing Science and Torah, Torah is emeth, and science is mostly sheker, always approaching emeth.
